State Recognition for Baylor

 Baylor University was recognized by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) as a high-performing educator preparation program in the category of Rigorous and Robust Preparation as evidenced by Baylor students’ performance on state teacher certification examinations.

Areas of commendation include:
• First Test Pass Rate, all exams
• First Test Pass Rate in teacher shortage areas

The SBEC recognizes teacher preparation programs that demonstrate “excellence beyond the accountability system” of the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Baylor was recognized for the 2020-21 reporting year (Sept. 1, 2020–Aug. 30, 2021).
Tests recognized for Baylor include all programs university wide, including undergraduate educator certification testing in pedagogy and subject matter, graduate students in programs such as superintendent certification, and non School of Education programs such as music education.
