Chloe Marshall is a senior from Missouri City, Texas, studying Elementary Education. Several factors helped her decide that Baylor was where she needed to be.

“I chose Baylor because of the faith-based environment, high regard for academic excellence and the sports!” she said. “I also chose to stay in Texas over going out of state to stay near my family in Houston.”

Several scholarships helped fund Marshall’s Baylor education. “Being the oldest of four, financial aid is a huge blessing for my parents,” she said. “There will be three of us enrolled in a four-year university at once!”

This year, Marshall helped teach in the School of Education’s Math for Early Learners Academy, or MELA, a math enrichment camp for pre-K and kindergarten students from the Waco area.

“I had an amazing and memorable experience with the kids and my peers, and I loved it. I was also able to get experience working with early education students which was new for me because I was teaching in a third grade class for my Teaching Associate junior year.”

Marshall plans to return to the Houston area to teach because it’s home and she wants to be close to family. She will be carrying on a family tradition.

“Growing up in a family full of educators, including my mom, I was able to appreciate the hard work, dedication and genuine care teachers have for their students,” Marshall said. “This profession is so very special and rewarding, and I can’t wait to form relationships with my students and make them feel loved and important in the world!”
